Ngöndro are the foundational practices of Vajrayana Buddhism combining to form a set of powerful methods for bringing about deep and profound inner transformation. The practices primarily focus on clearing away obscurations and accumulating merit, two activities that contribute to the recognition and stabilization of our enlightened nature. Although these practices are meant to prepare the practitioner for the Vajrayana and Dzogchen paths, they are also complete within themselves, continuing to benefit us throughout our lives.
This retreat will be held in partial silence. Each full day will be divided into sessions that combine instruction and practice for deepening both our understanding and experience of ngöndro. The focus will be on the Barchey Künsel ngöndro liturgy from the Chokling Tersar, however the teaching and practice sessions will be applicable to anyone’s dharma practice as they will cover in depth major Buddhist themes. The instructions will also be applicable to any ngöndro liturgy within the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism. This retreat is open to all, though previous experience with sitting meditation and Tibetan Buddhism is recommended.
