Unwinding Anxiety:
Meditation, embodiment, and Buddhist practice for working with anxiety
Learning to meet anxiety with steadiness instead of struggle.
For a lot of us, anxiety has become a near-constant companion — a tightness that shows up before the day even starts, a mind that runs ahead into everything that might go wrong. Most of us try to manage it by controlling it, or by gritting through. It rarely works for long.
This course offers a different relationship with anxiety: not a fight to win or a problem to eliminate, but something you can learn to meet — with understanding, with the body, and with a good deal of compassion. The aim isn't a life without anxiety. It's the steadiness to meet it when it comes, and the room to live well alongside it.
"Scott's guidance has opened up space for the emotional wounds and anxieties that previously made meditation seem inaccessible to me.”
- Devon Church

Course Curriculum:
Week 1: Grounding Yourself We lay the foundation: a daily practice, and a way of coming back into the body and breath when the mind speeds up. You'll learn "dropping" — a way of settling into the present moment — and begin meeting anxiety through a Buddhist lens.
Week 2: Understanding Speediness A look at what actually drives stress and anxiety. We explore "energetic speed limits" and the role of the subtle body in how stress moves through us, and meet the "beautiful monsters" — a kinder way of picturing our anxieties and old wounds.
Week 3: Befriending Your Feelings This is where the handshake practice comes in — a way of acknowledging and accepting emotion without judgment. You'll work with the habit of pushing feelings away, and begin to touch "essence love," a natural sense of well-being underneath the anxiety.
Week 4: Cultivating Love and Compassion We refine the handshake practice, leaning into love, compassion, and flexibility. You'll explore the difference between essence love and self-love, how reconnecting with essence love eases anxiety, and how to work with craving and aversion as they arise.
Week 5: Anxiety and the Buddhist Path How meditation steadies body and mind over time. We open into "open awareness" — a broader, more relaxed form of mindfulness — and look at the "reified I," the rigid sense of self that quietly feeds so much anxiety.
Week 6: Integrating Your Practice We bring it together: dropping, handshaking, and open awareness. You'll practice befriending anxiety by loosening that rigid sense of self and letting go of the need to control, meet the idea of "mereness" as a lighter way of holding yourself, and look at how to carry all of this into daily life.
